And So It Begins

After a nice, long night’s sleep, we headed downstairs to the Grand Cafe to begin our day.  What a great buffet breakfast with anything and everything you might want to start your day right.  The jams particularly caught our eye.  It helped to have yummy pastries to apply them to, but the jams starred.

After breakfast we made our first foray outside.  As the skies cleared the sun warmed us up, that is until the wind caught us thinking we might get away with less protective cover.  Once inside the Dale of Norway sweater shop the layers became a bit much.  I can tell I’m going to be shedding and dawning clothes during the trip as we wonder outside and then inside for our photos.

The sweaters were beautiful with most carrying a traditional Norwegian design that resembles a snow flake.  Hats and scarves were also available and will make nice gifts upon returning home.

Our hotel borders on a small but lovely park entertaining visitors today with a coffee shop and an ice skating pond.  Several skaters made their way across the ice, some with more skill than others.  Also near the park was a lovely little gastro pub.  Since neither of us were very hungry we split a burger and fries.  This should be enough to stave off any pre-dinner hunger.

It was time to return to our room for a quick nap (still catching up from the flight) before our massages in the hotel spa.   What a relaxing way to spend our first afternoon.  We had a few minutes afterwards before heading downstairs for our welcome cocktails and dinner.  This is a fairly large group for one of these trips numbering somewhere near 20 photographers along with a few non-shooting spouses.  We recognized a few people but most were new to us.  It should be a fun week of making new acquaintances.

Tomorrow: The real work begins
